Assuring Building Fire Safety in the 21st Century

building fire safety

Following Dame Judith Hackitt’s Building a Safer Future review, government and industry agreed that an effective and accountable building safety regime is required, broadly in the shape of the existing safety case regime for high hazards industries such as the oil and gas industry.

At ESR Technology, our staff have been pioneers for over forty years, in the use of quantified risk assessment and safety cases in the UK and globally to ensure safety in high hazard environments.  It is the robustness of our approaches in industries such as offshore oil and gas, onshore process,  chemical and railways, which positions ESR Technology well for applying such techniques in the building fire safety sector, supporting the forthcoming building safety legislation, which requires a safety case approach to fire safety in higher risk buildings.

The right choice of consultant ensures up-to-date safety assurance and risk reduction advice, thus providing the building design team and the client with confidence that their scheme will not only comply with regulatory requirements, but will also follow latest industry best practice.

Our experience in delivering fire strategies and safety cases in high hazard industries, and our historical understanding of safety legislation, enables our consultants to be pragmatic in the application of the guidance and in supporting liaison with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE - The new Building Safety Regulator), ensuring that the law is complied with whilst promoting the design team’s aspiration and enabling innovation.

Our Building Fire Safety services include:

  • Safety case development
  • Fire strategy development
  • Building egress and evacuation modelling
  • Fire risk (and hazard) assessments
  • Smoke control modelling, including using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Quantified Risk Assessment (QRA)
  • Fire safety management
  • Fire investigation
  • Expert witness
  • Third party review
  • Training

We look forward to discussing further how we can work with you and supporting your Building Fire Safety requirements.
