ESR Technology graduate recruitment process comes up trumps again
Two new graduates have been recruited by ESR Technology, and they will join our Safety and Risk team in January. This article describes the process that was used to bring Jack and Philippa on board.
ESR Technology has an established track record of recruiting and developing high performing graduates. This is clearly demonstrated in the Safety & Risk team where we have used our graduate development programme to help provide the resources for future growth and development. The most experienced individual to have come through this process is now moving into their first full management role and others are following suit.
The process that ESR has established involves attendance at university graduate recruitment fairs and use of the UK University job website ‘Prospects’ to prompt applications from suitable candidates. Applicants are shortlisted based on their match to our requirements and then undergo a telephone interview with the successful candidates being invited to a graduate assessment centre.
And that’s where the fun begins. The assessment centres run over the course of a day and are designed to give assessors a detailed insight into the candidates’ problem solving and numerical skills, capacity to understand and communicate detailed technical information, and ability to work well in a team.
Our most recent assessment centre was broken down into seven parts, all designed to inform candidates about ESR, determine their aptitude for the role and introduce them to the team. The different aspects were:
-
Welcome to ESR and the Safety & Risk business unit
-
Technical interview
-
Interview with the department manager
-
Facility tour and software demonstration
-
Reasoning / problem solving test
-
Written test
-
Group exercise and presentation
The candidates reflected significant diversity in terms of gender, where they had travelled from (Aberdeen, Belfast, Sheffield and areas more local to our base in Warrington) and discipline (chemical engineering, physics, mathematics).
We are very pleased that all offers that we extended were accepted. ESR Technology has firm plans for recruitment of further graduate and experienced safety and risk consultants. If you are interested in applying or know someone that might be then please see further details here.
