There’s still time to attend ESTL’s Space Tribology Course in Cleveland, Ohio on 14-15 May

There are still a few places left on ESTL’s (the European Space Tribology Laboratory) highly respected training course to be presented at the Hilton Downtown hotel in Cleveland, Ohio on 14th and 15th May 2018. The course will be held the two days before this year’s Aerospace Mechanisms Symposium in the same venue.

Aimed at anyone who needs to know more about tribology (friction, wear and lubrication) in spacecraft mechanisms, the course draws heavily from ESTL’s four and a half decades as Europe’s independent centre of excellence in space tribology.

Run over two days, attendees will receive a comprehensive overview of the many issues relating to space tribology, presented by two of ESTL’s most experienced personnel, including;

  • The Fundamentals of Tribology, in which tribological concepts are introduced and the special considerations for space and vacuum tribology highlighted
  • Tribo-component Design and Performance, in which an overview of the different types of tribo-components used in typical spacecraft applications is provided
  • Lubrication of Spacecraft Components, in which the application-driven considerations for selection of fluid and dry (solid) lubricants are provided
  • Lessons Learned, presenting a selection of the lessons learned on various programs

We received some very positive feedback from the delegates who attended ESTL’s last presentation of this course in the USA in 2014;

  • “I was very pleased with the course... did a wonderful job”
  • “…all I hoped for and more”
  • “it was excellent...”
  • “great combination of theory, practical applications and real-world examples”

Every attendee will receive a personal copy of the comprehensive presentation handouts. Refreshments and lunch will also be provided on both days.
