ESR Wins Award in The Future of Rail Young Engineers Competition

Greg Kelly, a rising star within ESR Technology’s National Centre of Tribology (NCT), was awarded second place in a regional competition hosted by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) this week.

The competition was based on “The Future of Rail”, with candidates using a recent project to show how their company can contribute to the future of the rail industry. The technical presentations were judged on technical content, presentation skills and future planning.

Greg presented NCT’s recent forensic investigation into a catastrophic failure on a train, highlighting the technologies and techniques used, demonstrating our capabilities for the future. The evening was filled with interesting presentations, promising a bright future for the rail industry through the application of exciting new technologies.

NCT’s heritage stretches back over 50 years, but its vision is firmly fixed on the future. It has recently entered into an exciting new collaboration with the Henry Royce Institute. Events like this demonstrates the uniqueness of NCT’s expertise, and why it will be needed to solve problems across the engineering industry in the future.
