What we achieve, together

Advancing NDT

Our work improves the effectiveness of in-service non-destructive testing and asset integrity management. We shape the development of independent guidance for asset integrity management for the energy industry. We have become a quality mark for expertise in advancing how NDT is applied across sectors and operations.

Together, we’re progressing the integration of digitalisation, remote internal inspection, and the management of external corrosion – with the aim of extending asset lifecycles, and better protecting people and environments.

How we do it

01/ Members shape our work

We deliver evaluation of NDT technique performance for specific industry challenges in our technical programme, entirely determined by the membership to address priorities within our shared industries.

We perform desk-based studies, host technology performance trials at our test facility in Oxfordshire and evaluate field trial results. Blind trials on accurately benchmarked ex-service or realistic stimulated samples, allow us to independently assess the capabilities and limitations of NDT methods across a range of sample geometries, damage mechanisms and defect morphologies.

02/ Driving technology adoption

The HOIS joint industry project produces results.

Our work feeds into industry guidance that is helping our members and sectors to adopt innovative technology and more sustainable approaches to carrying out inspection while driving down fugitive emissions.

03/ Pursuing net-zero ambitions

We support our membership by applying our knowledge and experience to the inspection and integrity issues posed by the energy transition challenge.

Our shared work on this frontier will help us all to design and operate smarter and cleaner, when carrying out NDT. It will help us to protect integrity with efficiency on new and adapted assets; as our membership lead the transition to green energy production, and a more sustainable future for our planet.
