Dr Achilleas Vortselas is an expert in tribological modelling and analysis of machine elements.
At ESTL, his work is focused on bearing and gear testing in vacuum, analysis of mechanism and tribometer test data and consultancy on bearing, gear, and mechanism analysis. He has contributed to several ESA space missions (including MetOp, CO2M, JUICE, JWST). He is the developer of CABARET 3, ESTL’s ball bearing analysis software which is funded by ESA for the benefit of the European space industry.
His previous experience involved R&D activities on numerical modelling in plasticity, wear, contact mechanics, and manufacturing processes, in Greece (NTUA, NCSR Demokritos), Luxembourg (LIST), and London (Imperial College). He has contributed to 9 space tribology papers,14 other publications.
