Richard is a safety and environmental principal consultant, with a background in Major Accident Hazards, safety and environmental management. He has supported clients, including COMAH facilities, across a range of industry sectors including oil and gas, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, nuclear and the offshore wind energy sector.
A significant focus of Richard’s work has been the demonstration of safety through design, whether for new facilities, or the modification of existing plants. and environmental risk assessments, adhering to protocols representing good practice guidance, but also able to provide bespoke solutions suited to the individual needs and circumstances of a client.
Richard also has experience of guiding large capital projects in managing their major hazard risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). Richard has been involved at all stages including: concept development, early design, detailed engineering design, procurement, construction, commission and into operations. This has involved developing and implementing risk management processes, including studies such as: hazard identification, design optioneering, to demonstrate the management of risks to ALARP. In addition to COMAH support, Richard has assisted with planning approvals, including major hazards aspects of environmental impact assessment, and hazardous substances consent.
