Success stories

Greg Kelly

Senior Engineer (NCT)

“I joined ESR Technology as a graduate engineer in 2017. During my time in the graduate program, I was given the opportunity to work within our testing team, SRM team, SPA team, and NCT.

I was given real responsibility and input on a variety of interesting projects, including, designing and building a large-scale test rig to test the cooling capabilities of an industrial radiator, presenting my research data to the European Space Agency (ESA) on the use of hard coatings in spacecraft applications, developing a series of code scripts to rapidly process hundreds of sheets of data produced from a large-scale testing job of bridge wires. After completing the graduate program, I was promoted to consultant engineer. I was supported in my application to become a chartered engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). I fulfilled the requirements for chartership with ease due to the varied and innovative work I did at ESR. My work responsibilities expanded as I took on more active project management work. I worked on even more interesting projects such as the development of a lubricant health sensor, large-scale failure investigations, and in-depth data analysis exercises. I was recently promoted to a senior engineer role within NCT. I expect to continue to work on interesting, varied, challenging, and rewarding projects. I recommend ESR Technology to new graduates because it is an environment where they will be exposed to all aspects of successful engineering project work. They will gain experience and responsibility that many do not in more siloed roles. ESR’s diverse range of clients and expertise means the work is seldom boring. I attest to being supported during every step of my professional progression.”

Joshua Naylor

Graduate Consultant (SRM)

“My experience in the Graduate Technical Safety Consultant Program has been amazing, developing my knowledge and skills from day one through project work. Some project highlights include a visit to an offshore installation and multiple projects within the energy transition, including a QRA for a hydrogen production facility.”
