Training courses
Space Tribology Course (STC)
ESTL provides a unique Space Tribology Course, focused on the challenges of space and vacuum tribology. This 2-day training course, which will be of value to experienced and inexperienced mechanisms engineers alike, is based on our own ESTL Space Tribology Handbook and other space-industry specific guidelines produced by ESTL. Taught by our own senior engineers, the course has been run for more than 35 years and is updated with latest data at each presentation.
In addition to the “public course” which runs roughly every 2 years coincident and co-located with the European Space Mechanism and Tribology Symposium (ESMATS), we also offer tailored versions of the course for individual companies and other agencies and entities (e.g. NASA, ESA and academic institutions) which can be tailored and presented in-person or online.

CABARET Ball Bearing Analysis Course
CABARET is ESTL’s state-of-the-art ball bearing analysis software, developed in-house but now freely available and widely adopted within Europe (having ~80 user companies).
With the support of ESA, ESTL has developed and now offers a 1-day on-line (virtual) CABARET training course which is aimed at developing confidence and competence in the correct use of the code for beginner to intermediate users.
The “public course” is to be offered periodically every 2 years, approximately coincident with the European Space Mechanism and Tribology Symposium (ESMATS), however we can also offer tailored versions of the course to industry as required.
