Raghbir Chand
Managing Director
BSc Mechanical Engineering (Wolverhampton Polytechnic), MSc Product Engineering (Cranfield University) and MBA (Warwick Business School, Warwick University)
Raghbir’s professional career has evolved from a technical engineering apprentice to an engineer, then to a consultant, and later into project and team management.
Post-MBA, Raghbir has held director roles and, since 2011, has taken on hands-on responsibilities as the Managing Director of two distinguished specialist engineering and consultancy groups. These companies are known for their significant contributions to advancing research, development, and leadership in expertise, knowledge, and innovation for clients and industries across the UK.
As the founder of VirtualPie Limited, Raghbir acquired BHR Group, renowned experts in fluid dynamics. In his role as Managing Director, he revitalized the Group’s core fluid dynamics activities, including the relaunch of its Diajet-Coolfire system and the development of the MetNano product. He also led strategic, business, and operational improvements. In 2016, alongside Vivek Maripudi, Raghbir secured the buyout of ESR Technology Limited from Arcadis.
Raghbir holds overall company-level P&L responsibilities and plays a key role in strategic planning to achieve sustainable growth across the business through effective operations, improved practices, and the development of staff, management, and resources.
Over the past eight years, Raghbir has led Business Director management teams in reviewing and implementing best practices for the development of people, team capabilities, and operational improvements. This has led to better productivity and improved client project delivery, maintaining quality and staying within budget. During this time, the company has strengthened its core expertise to align with the evolving needs of clients and sectors, focusing on the ‘renewable energy transition,’ ‘new space sector’ technology development, and the era of IT-led virtualisation and digitalisation. These efforts integrate the full scope of engineering, building, operations, and decommissioning of critical assets, plants, systems, products, components, and materials.
Outside of work, Raghbir dedicates time to charitable activities related to sports, religion, and equality within the community. He also enjoys spending time with family and friends, meeting new people, and exploring new places.
