Corrosion Assessment

Corrosion is a common problem in both engineering and the civil environment. Our NCT engineers and scientists routinely investigate corrosion related problems; from visual inspections and remaining life assessment through to analysis and testing.

We regularly identify mechanisms such as stress corrosion cracking (SCC), sulphide stress cracking (SSC), corrosion under insulation (CUI), microbial induced corrosion (MIC) and hydrogen embrittlement (HE) along with more general forms of corrosion such as pitting, crevice and galvanic corrosion.

The support we provide helps to identify the mechanism responsible for degradation of the components or material and includes ongoing support to provide a solution to the problem, either through corrosion prevention advice or materials selection.

We provide support across many industry sectors including pharmaceutical, medical, food, oil and gas, civil, aerospace, rail and chemical.
