At ESR Technology, we believe it is important to support and inspire the next generation of engineers, scientists, and other professionals who will shape the future of the STEM industry. Encouraging young people to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is a vital part of developing the talent and skills needed to address the challenges of tomorrow.

As a demonstration of our commitment to this value, ESR Technology recently welcomed two work experience students, aged 17 and 15, over two consecutive weeks. During their placements, both students experienced what it is like to work within an engineering consultancy and gain first-hand insight into the diverse range of specialist services and technical skills that ESR Technology offers.

Throughout their time with us, the students were exposed to a variety of departments, enabling them to develop a broader understanding of how different teams collaborate to deliver innovative solutions for our clients. By interacting with engineers, scientists, consultants, and business support professionals, we hope to have provided them with some valuable knowledge about the many career pathways available within the STEM sector.

We believe that providing young people with exposure to a professional working environment before they leave school is very valuable. Work experience not only helps students make more informed decisions about their future education and career but also helps them develop transferable skills that will benefit them throughout their personal and professional lives, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and, perhaps most importantly, confidence.

For many students, work experience placements can be their first opportunity to see how classroom learning is applied in a real-world setting. By bridging the gap between education and industry, placements such as these help to bring subjects to life and demonstrate the opportunities that exist within the engineering and technology sectors.
