Celebrating Success: Chartered Engineer Status Achieved By Omar Shah

24th June 2025

We’re proud to share the news that Omar Shah, one of our NCT team members, has achieved Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

This accomplishment is the result of hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to learning. Coming from a background in the physical sciences rather than traditional mechanical engineering, Omar’s route to chartered status demanded dedication, adaptability, and self-directed learning. From late-night studying and technical reading to the occasional educational YouTube video, Omar has shown what determination can achieve.

This success also continues a family tradition. Omar’s father, also from a physics and mathematics background, followed a similar path to become a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, contributing to globally recognised projects including the F35, Airbus A380, and Ford Focus. Inspired by this legacy, Omar now looks forward to contributing to equally impactful engineering challenges in his own career at ESR.

Omar’s journey demonstrates the value of a strong scientific foundation and the importance of cross-disciplinary skills in engineering today. His achievement also reflects the supportive culture here at ESR Technology, where knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and professional development are embedded in everything we do.

A big thank you goes to Greg Kelly, a colleague in the NCT team, for his support throughout Omar’s charter ship journey.

Congratulations, Omar!
